The results of a March 2014 study, published in the Journal Psychopharmacology, show that you can add improved cognition to the list of benefits of the polyphenol rich drink. Study participants were given a milk/whey soft drink that contained 27.5 g of green tea extract. According to the results of fMRIs, participants who drank the green tea extract showed significantly increased connectivity corresponding directly to improved task performance. From these results, the researchers were able to conclude that green tea extract does benefit cognitive functioning by stimulating the connectivity between the frontal and parietal lobes of the brain.
